Kazakhstan: Jesse Dayton Country Western Concerts
Jesse Dayton and his band performed three historic concerts in Aktau, Kazakhstan on February 10, 11 and 12th. With sponsorship from KBM / Karazhanbasmunai and the Marriott Renaissance Hotel, American Voices was able to bring this lively performer to Kazakhstan for the first Country music concerts in the history of the newly independent nation.
A highlight of the concerts was a spontaneous performance with a local Dombro player in an improvised mix of Country and Kazakh traditional music. Has a new genre been born? See the photos and decide for yourself....!
A special thanks goes to Angela Davis, a Peace Corps volunteer at the Mangistau Youth Center in Aktau for her skillful organization of these events.
Funds totalling $900 USD were raised for the local orphange through tickets sales and special donations at the concerts.
