Paraguay: Soul of America Tour
Paraguay, March 2005
Baritone Daniel Washington of the University of Michigan and pianist John Ferguson toured three cities in Paraguay under the auspices of the U.S. Embassy in Asuncion. Widely acclaimed concerts were held in Asuncion, Villarrica and Cuidad del Este on the Argentinian - Brazilian border. The concert programs centered around Black History Month and African-American composers.
The masterclasses offered at the National Conservatory in Asuncion gave the students an opportunity to study with American pedagogues for the first time and future collaborations and music score donations are being planned.
