Vietnam: Black History Month Concerts & Workshops

Vietnam Black History Month Programs with Antoine Garth and John Ferguson

Black History Month celebrations continued in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City under the auspices of the US Embassy with generous support from Lufthansa German Airlines, Hanoi Daewoo Hotel and the Equatorial Hotel in Saigon.

Workshops and masterclasses were given at both the Hanoi and HCMC conservatories with students from the vocal departments. These fun sessions culminated in joint performances with Antoine Garth and John Ferguson in the concert halls of both conservatories. In Hanoi, Antoine Garth offered workshops and seminars in jazz performance and style to the young jazz students program at the conservatory. American Voices plans to come back later in 2004 with a Big Band project to help develop Jazz education in Vietnam.
