Variations on America and American Music Score Donations

On January 28 and 29, 2002, pianist John Ferguson, Artistic Director of the American Voices Foundation, gave American music workshops at four music schools in Bangkok: the Western Music Departments of Srinakharinwirot and Chulalongkorn Universities; the Western Music Division of Kasetsart University; and the Institute of Music and Drama, Department of Fine Arts. Music students and faculties enthusiastically welcomed his presentation on the development of American music from ragtime to Dixieland, blues, jazz and other forms, as well as his demonstration of piano techniques and his advice to students who played.

During these occasions a representative of the Embassy of the United States of America presented a valuable collection of American musical scores to each of the schools? libraries, including Chulalongkorn University's Department of Music Education and the CU Band. Mr. Ferguson selected the scores for the collections.
