Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan - Variations on America with National Conservatory Choir and Orchestra

From September 21st through 27th American Voices brought its first American Artist-in-Residence program to Kyrgyz audiences and educational institutions.

During the course of 5 days over 1700 citizens of Bishkek were reached via 3 live performances and 3 masterclass in American music. A large audience was reached via television coverage of the gala concerts at the Kyrgyz National Philharmonic and National Opera and Ballett Theatre in addition to radio broadcasts and press interviews.

The thirst for continuation of such programs in Kyrgyzstan was resoundingly expressed by faculty and students of the Music Conservatory and demonstrated through the excellent attendance at the public events.

Summary of Events:

Gala Public Performance - Performance of "Variations on America" at National Philharmonic, September 26th, Attendance – approx. 400

Gala Final Public Performance with the student orchestra and choir at the Opera & Ballet House September 27th, Attendance – approx. 750

Concert for the students of Bishkek's music schools, at Shubin Children's Music School, Attendance - approx. 200

Masterclasses for voice and piano at the music conservatory, Attendance – approx 80

Masterclass with students of the Kurenkeyev Music College, Attendance – approx. 100
