YES Academy Iraq Wows Iraqi Audiences

The fourth annual YES Academy Iraq wowed audiences with orchestra, Hip Hop, piano, Broadway and much more
On July 12, the YES Academy Iraq gala concert took place in Erbil's Peshawa Hall with performances by over 300 participants and 12 U.S. and European faculty. The packed hall welcomed young performers from throughout Iraq to the stage in performances of Gershwin and Mozart by the YES Chamber Orchestra, Hip Hop dance, children's theater, classical piano and jazz combos and rock bands.

The program featured U.S. faculty representing the best universities and cultural institutions of the United States ranging from St Louis Symphony Orchestra and HaviKoro Break Dancers to Baylor University, Oklahoma State University and Eastern Carolina State University. The 300 student participants hailed from Baghdad, Mosul, Kirkuk and throughout the Kurdistan region.

The program was broadcast nationally and internationally by Iraqi television to millions of households.

The YES Academy Iraq was supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Kurdistan Regional Government, The Embassy of the United States, Pepsi, University of Kurdistan Hawler and Salahaddine University.
