YES Academy Afghanistan made its debut in the provincial capitals of Herat and Mazar-i-Sharif in the month of March. Over 300 youth from universities, high schools, local bands, music and theater schools and orphanages participated in the program bringing music and theater specialists from the U.S. for the first time to these cities. Along the way, we met some amazing kids, talented bands and dozens of young people anxious to act, sing and play. The faculty included Lia Gladstone, Dr. Gene Aitken, Michael Parks Masterson and John Ferguson. Photos
For the third year, YES Academy Thailand brought professional training in the unique American genres of Hip Hop, Broadway musical theater and jazz, as well as string orchestra, chamber music and piano, to hundreds of Thai and international students. This year's international participation included students from Pakistan, Nepal, Burma, Laos and Indonesia. The Thai participation included a wider nationwide participation including talent from Yala and Chiang Rai provinces. See the video!
